Ashtanga Essentials with Tessie Jo Ortega

Curious about ashtanga vinyasa yoga? Investigate foundations to advance your skills in this dynamic method as well as in your entire practice. Precise and measured repetition in this set sequence invites you to drop into deeper layers of your being as you detox and transform over time.  

Saturday, April 16th: Foundations: Learn Ashtanga philosophy and traditions. Practice Sanskrit through the opening and closing mantras and learn names of postures. Develop the keys of breath, bandhas, dristhi and vinyasa in the magical union to unlock your body. Break down Sun Salutations, the Standing sequence (grounding postures), the Finishing sequence (Backbends and inversions) and closing sequence (meditation).  

Saturday, April 23rdHeart of the Primary Series- Incorporate props to learn variations of the 30 seated postures that open and stabilize the hips and shoulders, including arm balances.  Dissect elements of jumping forward, back, and through to build into seamless transitions.  

Saturday, April 30th: Full-led primary series: Integrate all components from the prior sessions as we undergo the entire guided primary series, in a way that works for your body. Prior workshop attendance or consistent yoga experience recommended.   

Each Session: 2:00pm-4:00pm 

$35/session, $65 for 2 sessions, $90 for entire series - Pre-registration required.
