LaShay Peterson
Eleven years ago, after having her second child, LaShay wandered into the Kindness Yoga studio one block from her house and on that day her health and movement journey began. She found that regular running and yoga complimented each other well, and were a great way to relieve the lifelong burden of anxiety and depression. The act of mindfulness and movement in unison made her soul stronger. After being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2014, she began to dive deeper into yoga, fitness, and strength training to recover and build a more solid foundation. In 2019, she left her career as a librarian and began her studies in fitness. In that year, she received her 200HR YTT, NCCPT Personal Trainer, StrongFirst Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor, Steel Mace FLow Instructor, Functional Movement Specialist, and Crossfit Level 1 Instructor certificates. She holds a passion for teaching and fitness and believes that everyone should feel comfortable pursuing their journey at any age and level.
At the end of 2019, LaShay found she was searching for a smaller community and was ready to leave Denver (after 16 years) to live a more quiet life in the mountains. She had been visiting Salida for many years prior and would practice at Yoga Olas with friends on her trips to town. Moving here was a dream come true!
Outside of the studio, LaShay is a mother of two teenage boys, one dog, and 50 house plants! She is an artist and a seamstress, who has a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts. She loves to cook and spend time in the sunshine.
