Abigail Smedly
Abigail discovered yoga over 10 years ago while trying to survive the stress and rigor of nursing school. Abigail practiced hot yoga, and first discovered the life changing effects of yoga on the mind, body and soul. Abigail greatly attributes yoga to the healing of her body-she long suffered chronic stomach pain and headaches. She continued to practice off and on as a nurse, until August of 2016 when she felt the call to enter yoga teacher training as a way to truly combine her passion of wholeness in the body and mind. She saw holes in conventional nursing that did not address the often complex issues of imbalance within the body, and sought a new way to bring balance through yoga. She took the terrifying leap of pursuing what she really loves, and signed up for teacher training.
Abigail was trained through CorePower Yoga, specializing in Vinyasa flow, and graduated in December of 2016. She went on to do an Extension’s program through Core Power deepening her knowledge as a teacher and as a student. She is thrilled to continue her yoga teaching journey, and share with others the joy of yoga.
Abigail is a Denver native, but in July of 2017, fueled by her courage from yoga teacher training, decided to take another leap of faith and pursued a long time dream by moving to beautiful Salida! She has now been instructing at Yoga Olas for over 7 years, and loves the community and incredible opportunities that Olas has provided. In her spare time you can find her hiking or biking with her dogs, painting, or cooking for the people she loves.
