Yoga Teacher Training FAQs…

I’m not sure it’s in the cards for me this year, but I would definitely be in next year!  Are you holding the training next year?

We do not plan to hold a training in 2020.   We are truly focused on developing and mentoring a quality group of teachers in this Fall 2019 event.  It is possible we will hold additional trainings in following years if there is demand for it.

I’ll be out of town for a weekend and some of the week nights, is it mandatory I attend every session?

While we certainly hope you can make it to all sessions and believe you will gain the most knowledge and practice being present for sessions, we certainly understand you may miss a few ….  With enough heads up, we will record any sessions missed as well as provide ample make up hour opportunities.

Is the training registered with the Yoga Alliance?  What is the Yoga Alliance?

We made a very conscious and deliberate decision not to register our training with the yoga alliance. Despite the optics, the YA is not a required accreditation, but a pay-for advertising registry, with no accountability standards.   There is actually no accreditation in Yoga, although most studios and gyms do require you have attended at least 200 hours of training.   The Yoga Olas Teacher Training far exceeds the standards set forth by the Yoga Alliance.  We have no doubt our training would qualify under YA requirements, and our decision not to associate was not due to cost, but rather advocacy for yoga!  We’ve chosen not to perpetuate a system that lowers the standards for teaching and provides no support or accountability to teachers.  YO hires teachers based on skill, professionalism, and ability to inspire others, with no import to whether or not a teacher has RYT at the end of their name.

 Are payment plans available?

Yes!   You may secure your spot with a $300 deposit and we will accept monthly payments through January 2020.   If you have special circumstances that require a longer payment period there is some wiggle room.

Explain the mentorship…

The nine-month mentorship is a part of the training that we are most excited about!   Most TT programs graduate you and then leave you off on your own to figure things out.  Our mentorship program is designed to help you succeed on your path to becoming a teacher!    Your mentor will not only help you hone your teaching skills, but help you develop your brand, own your voice, serve as a reference, and help you along down the wild yoga path ahead.

How many spots are left?

We are about half full. We will cap the training at 20 people.

What is the schedule?

The bulk of the training will occur in Fall 2019, for about 3 ½ months.  We begin September 7 and conclude Dec 19.  We’ll meet the first weekend of each month on Saturday 10-7:30 and Sunday 11-8.   We meet one Friday evening, November 1, 5:30-8:30.

Our week night meetings are Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 and Thursdays 5:30-8:30 (a total of 13 weeks).   We will skip a few weeks for breaks and holidays. Graduation will be in January 2020. Mentorship meetings will continue through May 2020.

I’m not sure I want to teach yoga; would the training still be worthwhile?

Absolutely!  Through this training you will gain a deeper knowledge and appreciation for the practice of yoga.  You’ll explore the study of yoga history and philosophy and subtle body practices.  You’ll learn to use your voice effectively, develop public speaking and storytelling skills, and build confidence in your voice.   You’ll meet and become life-long friends with an incredibly special group of people on the same path at the same time!
